Our exclusive collection with Charity BirdLife International

We’ve got major bird love here at Curated Pieces, we became more interested in conservation too so you can imagine how excited we are to team up with BirdLife International to create our stunning BirdLife Collection featuring the Sarus Crane, Hook-billed Hummingbird and The Yellow-crested Cockatoo! The best part is at least 20% of the proceeds go to supporting the great work that BirdLife International do to protect birds from extinction globally.
I developed a bit of a bird sketching obsession and did we become Birders along the way? Absolutely… we’re not afraid to admit it.
Specifically me with my epic ‘bird wall” that I built through the first lockdown featuring all the sketches I did leading up to our collaboration. It was a really liberating thing for me… and sparked a love for these birds on the IUCN RedList that BirdLife work so hard to protect from extinction.
The Famous Birdwall
Well how did this all come about you might ask?
My creativity was reignited... fuelled by my sabbatical, then lockdown and an increased awareness of birds popping into my frame of existence in my leafy suburb and almost all aspects of life… From a Eurasian Jay and it’s friend bouncing in front of me unexpectedly, to the coal tit that knocked on my window one morning waking me up… To the Parakeets that are constantly squawking in the gardens around my flat…
Our dad used to sketch birds with us when we were little as well. Maybe it was all building to this! We also had various family sketch challenges (us Ellis’s love a challenge) featuring dad, my nephew Nate, my sister Gill and I. Mum was providing the refreshments, her choice :)

More about the collaboration
Gill and I were so pleased to work with Sue and the great guys over at BirdLife International. I reached out to them as I wanted to make my bird sketching obsession have a purpose. BirdLife International were the charity we wanted to work with because of their work they do globally and at grass roots level to ensure that species preserved.
I hope that you love this collection as much as I do. To view the collection of hummingbird prints, the stately Sarus Crane recreated in art form and ornate bird plates go to: https://curatedpieces.com/birdlife Xx
