My essential oil obsession has been giving me life during lockdown there are so many different blends and combinations that I use for different vibes.
Firstly, what are essential oils?
Essential oils are natural oils extracted from plants. The oils capture the essence of the plants. They’re often processed through distillation or cold pressing.
And secondly how do essential oils work?
Inhaling the aromas of the oils is said to stimulate responses in the limbic system in your brain. The limbic system is concerned with your regulation of your sense of smell, long term memory, emotions and circadian rhythms. Different sections of the limbic system work in different ways. When you diffuse essential oils and you inhale them this sends a message to your olfactory bulb in your limbic system that in turn effects hormones that regulate things such as your ability to sleep and your stress levels to name a few.
For the winter nose stuffiness
I was in love with Lemongrass and Eucalyptus. It really cleared my sinuses and restored me to health when I diffused overnight.
For concentration, energy, and motivation
I am a fan of the citrus blends Orange, or Lime, or even Bergamot
to keep me bright and focussed and not slumped over my laptop. Peppermint is fab for this too.
For love vibes
It's apparently no secret apparently why roses are given romantically. Apparently they stimulate love vibes and have been used as aphrodisiacs for centuries. I personally love rose and vanilla for those cosy love vibes.
